First jelly deisgns

old school video- jelly rotoscopeing at my house lol
lol this is my old testing right when we got the project brief. as you can see here i was trying to film the jelly in rotoscope and then colour it in on photoshop. taking out my hands and the background. As you can see good thing i didnt go through with this as it would look aweful. The jelly mold in this is what i used for my actual final jelly in maya. it was a good mold
My Conclusion
I made sure that my jelly model was from the 1950- 1960's era, as i liked that classic shape look that you sometimes see in other cartoon's such as tom and jerry. I kept my background minimal so save on render times and to keep to my orignal breif of keeping the entire animation clean.
I also made sure that i made my animation for the ROA event at my college on the 4th of june. I think i was the only person in the end in my class to get their animation on Tv. This was the sole main foucs for this project anyway as that was what our tutor wanted us to orginaly aim for. So i am very pleased that i made it but was dissapointed that no one else got there animation broadcasted
I also feel that my animation worked well as intended for being a short advertisement promo for my fantasy company jelly studios.
Points that id like to do better on is work on the sounds more and maybe add a background sound. i kinda rushed the sounds for roa though so i guess that had to be done. I had to be careful though of copyright laws so that was tough aswell as i could only used certin sounds and effects.
Some more shots of the jelly doing things would of been nice to like looking around more and showing maybe more of expression. but my jelly rig was limited to just squash and strech. I did however use a bend deformer near the end for the blue and green jelly, otherwise there moves would have been a little to bland
The future.
ZBRUSH!!! i hope. ive got it ready and have a tablet just gunna spend the summer with tutorials learning it for when i come back for the 3rd year at rave. Be sure to check out my new zbrush blogsoon.
See you september 2009

This is my final project image from my jelly project. Everything got complete on time for rave on air which was on the 4th of june. I made everything ahead of schedule and i am very pleased with the way i have worked this entire project.
Ive learnt alot about my self aswell and what things i am really good at and enjoy to do, such as modelling, texturing and animation. I still wanna learn more about lightning though.

progress update!
ROA Edit complete!
well its finished. All my hard work has paid off. What i have achieved this project is a very good quiality clear simple animation. its by far the best thing i have made this year which i am very pleased about. Every project i seem to get better in some way, and this project i think its been on my modeling and animation. Id like to thank alec for doing the lighting in this, as i didnt do it. Hopefully this will pass for rave on air, and will be shown on tv is what i hope. So far its looking as i will be the only one ready for rave on air quality control hand in?. next time i do a jelly animation though i want a better rig to the jellys rather then just squash bend and stretch. Also having simple black eyes on the jellys would be good also.

looking good now. just 2 more shots to go and ill be done. might change floor texture to a checkers table cloth. Also i might add a blured out kitchen to the background but i will see. the last big jelly will have a bend deformer also. so he will be able to wiggle about hopefully and give some nice flow change to my animation

test render
this is a test render done today of the first shot. i renderd it in maya software with 3d motion blur. it looks nice. this is just a test. tho i want to keep the back ground simple and floor simple with nice clean textures. i will also render of in layers aswell hope you like this.
shot 1. progress - nearly comeplete
todays work on maya has been good. id say nearly a breakthrough is animation for me. this is proberly the best bit of good animation i have done. its certinly alot better then my old ball squash and stretch scene. im really happy with it i just need to make it more longer on the plate so he looks around and more and hops once or twice. and dan really helped me alot making this look better so big thanks to him. i just hope the rest of my shots look as well animated as this and i should be fine

having some slight problems
Bad news is removeing my hand was a big pain. it was covering the jelly i was moving and when i try to mask around the jelly i loose some of its shape becuase the hand is in the way lol. But now im molding the jelly now with clear string in the middle, so hopefully i can keep my hands out of camra while maintaining the jellys forms. will re start again in an hour once jellyhas set.
i will also need to plan out in detail what happens in everyshot so i dont waste time filming things i do not need.
